Surgical treatment of the neck in patients with salivary gland carcinoma

Background Elective neck dissection (END) in patients with salivary gland carcinoma is controversial and there are no universally accepted guidelines. Methods Patients were identified from the Danish Head Neck Cancer Group. Between 2006 2015, 259 primary treated END. Variables potentially associated regional metastases analyzed using logistic regression. recurrence-free survival was calculated Kaplan–Meier method. Results Occult found 36 of END (14%) particularly frequent among T3/T4 tumors high-grade histology tumors. In multivariate analyses, vascular invasion occult metastases. Conclusion We recommend levels II III for or unknown histological grade tumors, Levels I, II, should be included submandibular, sublingual, minor carcinomas.
